The Phoenix Symphony has been making its mark on the Phoenix cultural scene since 1947. And what a ride it's been.
Originally, the symphony began with a group of talented musicians getting together occasionally to perform sporadic concerts throughout the years. As interest grew, the Phoenix Symphony became an official body with an annual season from September through the beginning of June.
Today, the musicians perform almost 200 concerts and presentations in the region.
The Phoenix Symphony is sensitive to the needs of the community, not only in its performances but also to draw and attract young and old alike to the magic of orchestral performances. The symphony collaborates with many artistic partners from the region, including the Phoenix Art Museum and the Phoenix Theatre.
Themes throughout the year have included a regular series of Classics, Symphony Pops, Chamber Orchestra, and Family offerings, as well as special community presentations celebrating various holidays and area events. There have also been special performances including the Rediscovered Masters series, and a festival of the World's greatest piano concertos.
