Living in Phoenix

If you're thinking about living in the Valley of the Sun, you're in good company. Residents of the city of Phoenix are known for a friendly and upbeat attitude, and most are transplants themselves. Many Seattle residents move there after tiring of rainy days, and Southern Californians who are looking for a lower cost of living often pick Phoenix as their destination.

The capital of Arizona certainly is popular with residents. In fact, it's the 5th most populated city in the U.S. and is home to 1.6 million residents.

The city is located in the northeastern area of the Sonoran Desert. While it's known for sunny weather more than 300 days every year, the summers can be extremely hot and oppressive. But many residents say they would rather stay indoors in the heat for a few months than brave the cold weather of cities in northern climates.

The arts and culture of the city can't be beat, with nationally touring acts appearing there, as well as large museums and a lively Southwestern arts scene.

Economy and jobs include large public and private companies, along with the military. A handful of Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in Phoenix, and the main campus of Arizona State University is located in the city as well.
